Dr. Fatina Shtivelman
Dr. Fatina was born in Brooklyn and grew up in the New York City area. She graduated from Wagner College, with a degree in Biological Sciences and Magna Cum Laude Honors. Finishing her studies in only three and half years, she decided to spend her last semester prior to dental school volunteering and working in the dental field.
Dr. Fatina earned her D.D.S. degree from SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. She completed her general practice residency at Staten Island University Hospital. During her training, she found her true passion, treating children and patients with special needs. Looking to further her experiences, she enrolled in a fellowship at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine, caring for patients with disabilities and special needs. The year allowed her to successfully treat patients with many different medically complex backgrounds using IV sedation and general anesthesia. Finally, she pursued her pediatric dental training at Stony Brook University Hospital. She served as chief resident and completed her research in helping the special needs population to gain further access to dental care, while mentoring dental students during their pediatric rotations.
Dr. Fatina is a Board Certified pediatric Dentist and feels extremely proud to have been chosen as a Favorite Kids Doctor. Furthermore, she loves teaching residents and taught at Lutheran Medical Center.
Dr. Fatina is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association. She believes in giving back to her community and has dedicated her time to many community service outreach programs, including Gives Kids a Smile and Head Start in the lower east side.
When she isn’t at work, Dr. Fatina enjoys spending time with her husband and her son Julian. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and skiing.
